Is it just me? Or is everyone tired of having a "convenience fee" to pay almost any bill now?

For some shows they drop earlier. Right after tickets have sold out on Ticketmaster is when they're the highest. Sometimes it's better to wait until closer to the show, sometimes not... it depends on who's performing. It definitely sucks for ticket buyers though either way, unless you get one of those shows where the tickets are selling for less than face value.

You have to know when to buy on stubhub. Often times the prices will plummet the day or 2 before the show. Arguably, the price on stubhub is the market price for the tickets... Capitalism at work I guess

Kratom is an opiate and is legal and not drug testable, but it isn't as strong as the more pure opiates (well, in a dose that you can do without getting sick. Don't consume more than 1 oz of powder). The best in my experience is Bali kratom, as this is the strongest effect for the lowest price.

Extracts are more expensive for similar effect, but some people prefer them for the convenience. When I make kratom, I prepare it as a tea. Here are instructions that pretty much describe the way I prepare it.

On a lark I went back to Ubuntu 7.10 from 9.10. Everything broken was fixed. Karmic is a buggy pile.

Ingenium13 1 point2 points 1 month ago[-]

I agree. I'm in fact looking for another distro because of 9.10. Most things work, but there is a terrible bug where resuming from suspend (to RAM) while using the ATI driver causes everything in memory to be swapped to disk. The bug reports I've found for it say it's something related to a memory leak in X. It gets worse each time I suspend until it's taking 10-15 minutes to resume because it keeps swapping to disk multiple times, forcing me to reboot. Disabling swap makes the system hang. It never resumes in less than a minute, but I've found if I close everything that's open it gives me a couple more suspend/resume cycles before it gets unusable. However, this defeats the purpose of suspend...

Suspend/resume worked flawlessly on 9.04.

Good old creatine is myostatin blocker

Ingenium13 2 points3 points 1 month ago[-]

The article does not say that. When you build muscle normally, your myostatin levels are reduced. The quicker you build muscle, the less myostatin you have. For creatine to really be a myostatin blocker, it would have had to reduce the level of myostatin in the control group taking creatine compared to the control group not taking creatine.

All this study says is that creatine is effective in helping you build muscle faster, which was already known.

Fuck you , Epson. I want to print something in black and white RIGHT NOW. Who cares if I'm out of Cyan?

For replacement toner, check monoprice.com. They recently started selling toner and it's significantly cheaper than anyplace else. Replacement toner for my Xerox color laser were $17 each.

I've been running 64-bit flash without any problems for 6 months now. Just downloaded it from Adobe's website and installed. I'm using Chromium though, but I wouldn't think that would matter much unless Opera doesn't have support for 64-bit plugins

Ingenium13 1 point2 points 4 months ago[-]

I've never heard of people rolling joints of it, but I've heard you can smoke it for a very short effect.

Personally, I prepare it as a tea. I typically use about 1/2 ounce (2 tablespoons) of Bali, which would be a reasonably strong dose for someone without a tolerance. More than an ounce at a time and it tends to make you sick. These instructions that I wrote up are pretty much exactly how I make it: http://kratomtalk.blogspot.com/2008/11/kratom-instructions.html I prefer to use artificial sweetener instead of sugar or honey, and I found that 2 Sweet n Lows per dose is perfect.

Gnome Shell -- First Impressions?

Ingenium13 6 points7 points 4 months ago[-]

Honestly, I tried it, and I loved the UI and was willing to switch to it, but it was too slow compared to Gnome/Compiz (2.8GHz Core2Duo). It just needs hardware acceleration for the animations and such to speed it up, then it would be fine. I presume this will be fixed by the time Gnome 3.0 comes out.

Ubuntu 9.10, Karmic Koala, is here.

Ingenium13 3 points4 points 4 months ago[-]

I would imagine yes. I upgraded to the RC on the 23rd or 24th. I've since received numerous updates, including a kernel update and a pulse audio update, but I have no idea what was patched in them. Haven't received any updates in about 2-3 days though. There is a possibility though that the iso is the release candidate and people will get the updates after they install.

DAE love the feeling when you open your computer after an exam and you get to close out of all the documents and browsers you were using to study?

Ingenium13 2 points3 points 4 months ago[-]

probably, but you can use the book on the exams too. They only test on what's in the posted lecture notes, not on stuff from just the book. The exams are all problems anyway, so open laptop just lets you avoid pointless memorization (and use Excel as a calculator).

Or after you finish the test. Most of my exams in grad school at CMU are open laptop. I think I've only had 1 class that wasn't open note/laptop. They just say not to use the internet...not that it would help you much anyway.

Eeebuntu 4.0 to drop Ubuntu for Debian

Ingenium13 2 points3 points 4 months ago[-]

Agreed. By biggest pet peeve was that /etc/modules/options is no longer used in 9.04. They say to create a .conf file in that folder instead, but that doesn't work either! As an example, I have an issue where connecting to an N network with an Intel 5300 card causes a kernel panic, and there is no way I can disable the N capabilities now. I don't know why they can't leave stuff like that alone. Instead, the upgrade breaks things, and users have no idea why...

Dear Reddit. Who do you prefer to use as a shipping company; DHL, FED EX, UPS or USPS?

Ingenium13 1 point2 points 5 months ago[-]

DHL's operations were taken over by USPS in the US. For my business, I just ship via USPS. I've had a couple issues where packages get lost, but other than that I've been pretty happy with their service. Shipping via FedEx or UPS is just annoying since there aren't dropboxes nearby. As a person living in an apartment, I always prefer to receive packages via USPS because they can actually leave it inside the building, whereas FedEx and UPS will almost always leave a slip the first delivery attempt.

I imagine Microsoft Office is still in use far more than Open Office, mainly because some people are afraid to change suites. I wonder if there are any reasonably good estimates of the number of PCs with MS Office installed as opposed to the number with OO installed?

Ingenium13 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

I'll second this. I use Ubuntu as my primary OS, and Windows is only installed in a VM, but I still always use MS Office in Wine (or the VM) instead OpenOffice. I tried using OO.org, and I did while doing my undergrad. but now I actually use those features in Word, Powerpoint, and especially Excel, that just aren't in OO.org. Excel is really the deal killer because OO.org can't come close unfortunately...

I recommend our Bali. It's my favorite product we offer, and it's what I use personally. However, some people prefer slightly different effects (such as more stimulating and less opiating), but really the differences are pretty subtle. The largest difference is the flavor when it's prepared as a tea.

Personally I really like the Bali, and it's what I use when I do kratom. I feel it's the best effect for the price.
