I understand. When I was a teenager, my dad and I didn't talk for about 3 years...we just didn't understand each other. He didn't know how to handle a moody teenage girl (poor guy lol) But now we have a great relationship. Completely agree. I think they need to go higher up and restructure everything. I was just saying that you can't claim there are NO good cops. We still need to acknowledge that the job is a difficult one and show respect to the ones that deserve it.

I'm not saying that there aren't bad cops. I'm not even completely disagreeing with you. But have you ever been put in an awkward work situation? Have you ever been part of a team where you have to live and work as a family? These things can be very hard for people and sometimes the lines of right and wrong get blurred. Again, I'm not excusing it by any means but I don't think all of them do it to be a bad cop. If the corruption goes high enough, reporting it wouldn't do any good anyway, and if they can't transfer out of that unit, they are stuck there being the "out" guy on the team and that can make life extremely difficult. Once again, not an excuse! But I think these are the "blanket statements" the OP was talking about. One group ruining it for the rest of them.
