The risk free rates are 6% in the US and 8% in Mexico. The current spot exchange rate is $0.0845 per Mexican Peso. What is the forward exchange rate for a 180-day forward contract?

I fell in love with road biking the other day

After one year of mountain biking, I decided to pick up road biking for when I didn't feel like making the 15-45 minute drive to the better trails in the mountains.

I'm lucky enough to live in a town that is abundant with bike trails/lanes making it really easy to just jump on and cruise for miles with a beautiful backdrop.

I stopped in took this picture shortly after I realized how much fun I was having.

TIL how Berkshire Hathaway, one of the most profitable companies in the country, cuts cost in the web development sector.

Berkshire Hathaway is just a holding company, they don't technically sell anything directly, thus they don't need a fancy website.

How many Redditors still live with their parents?

backside180 -5 points-4 points 5 months ago[-]

24, moved out after high school

Because I'm a grown ass man

I can't even come up with a viable comparison of things I would rather do than still live at home.

How do you explain that you live with your parents after age 18 without sounding pathetic?

When will the recession end?

backside180 0 points1 point 5 months ago[-]

It ended after Q2 2009, the US posted GDP growth of 2.2% in Q32009 and 5.9% in Q42009.

BEA stats

Recession = two or more consecutive quarters of negative GDP.

Guys of reddit: why is anger so much easier to deal with?

That's why I own one of these, you also automatically get coverage if you buy a fishing license in Colorado (granted it only is good for CO)

Dear scientists of Reddit: What do you think is the next big milestone in YOUR field?

backside180 2 points3 points 6 months ago[-]

The major fallacy with economics is that its must be assumed that all agents in a market are rational in order for the math to work.

It sounds absurd but as Milton Friedman argued abstraction and strategic simplification, is the only way we can impose some intellectual order on the complexity of economic life.

He is correct in that doing so has led to great progress in the field of economics, albeit with flawed assumptions.

But despite their incestuous relationship, the financial and economic markets are completely different and neither have strong theory's behind them.

Dear scientists of Reddit: What do you think is the next big milestone in YOUR field?

backside180 12 points13 points 6 months ago[-]

The chatter among the financial community is that the current theory is wrong, not just inefficen inefficient t.

If it were correct asset bubbles wouldn't exist, something we have clearly seen in all markets (housing, Japanese asset bubble, tech, etc.).

The model assumes that all decision making is rational and it is no secrecy that the people that make up markets act irrational whether it is letting emotions drive decision making in investing or something as simply as holding cash in a money market fund yielding 0.1% when there are equally save and appropriate alternatives that yield even 1.0%.
