you sure are acting like a college freshman, not a mature member of the armed forces. i don't have to qualify myself to you or anyone else.

i was severely injured in 1972 and spent two full years in army and naval hospitals recovering. i was moved to the navy's permanent retired list in 1974 with full retirement benefits, champus, base privileges, mac flights, the works. i went before a medical findings board and defended my injuries. that's how we did when you were in grade school. i then accepted an offer from the va to waive my dod pay in lieu of receiving a 100% disability rating and thus a va pension for life. deal.

in 1983 the va tried to re-neg on their deal and lower my disability to 80%. no dice. i got a lawyer, had a hearing struck out. then i went to see the guy at the american legion. pow. suddenly i had another hearing. i got the dav on board. the hearing wasn't in my favor.

i was going to give up. i was going to try to get by on my dod retirement pay and whatever work i could do. (i'm not exactly office material - i have some pretty thick and ugly scarring on my neck arm, hand and face.)

the dav filed for an appeal at the national level. the legion sent two lawyers for my hearing. i couldn't afford to attend, but they were there. i've read the dav rep's statement. it's humbling.

these people got my 100% rating back. i did have a fucking crummy letter from my state representative in the file. big whoop. a fucking boilerplate letter that mentions me a total of one time.

i don't give a shit about you or what you think the guys think about service orgs. i think you're an ignorant college boy who doesn't understand jack shit.
